香蕉變塑膠 土耳其少女得大獎

（法新社華盛頓27日電） 土耳其年僅16歲的少女科學家畢爾金想出以香蕉皮代替石油製造塑膠，這個點子今天獲得「科學人」雜誌肯定，讓她抱回5萬美元獎金。

畢爾金（Elif Bilgin）來自伊斯坦堡，她花了2年時間研究如何將人們吃剩的香蕉皮轉換成生質塑膠，並讓製成塑料作為電線的絕緣體。

畢爾金的努力今天獲得肯定，美國著名科普雜誌「科學人」（Scientific American）宣布，畢爾金是5萬美元「科學實踐獎」（Science in Action）的得主。這個獎項是進軍9月Google全球科學展（GoogleScience Fair）的跳板。全球科學展專為青少年發明家舉辦。

畢爾金認為，芒果皮等廚餘的澱粉和纖維可以用來製造生質塑膠，香蕉皮應該也有一樣的妙用。

她說：「對我來說，這意味著我的計畫確實有可能解決石油製塑膠造成日益嚴重的汙染。」

稱科學是使命的畢爾金說，諾貝爾獎得主居禮夫人是她的偶像。

她接受訪問時也說：「這意味著我已開始改變世界，我已經覺得自己是贏家了。」（譯者：中央社林亭儀）
