世尊曰：「如世良馬，見鞭影而行。」

大大您好

請容我學習解答，外道是問世尊，不問一個需要開口的東西，也不問一個不能講的東西。外道問的這個東西就是"智慧"，或做道。智慧講在多，沒有意義。但是不講給別人聽，別人又不知道如何學習。

但世尊卻沉默不回答的原因，是因為世尊要求他自己先"自省"。

當外道知道世尊的意思後，才感謝世尊提醒，原來真正的智慧都在本性內了，只需要時時反省就能看到。外道入的就是一個能找到智慧的方法，反省。

而世尊所言「如世良馬，見鞭影而行」意思是說，一個有智慧的人，只要起心動念就會一不正，就會馬上反省。並不會在因心態而造成令人遺憾的舉動的時候，才開始檢討自己。

這個故事是要我們時時檢視自己的起心動念，不要等到事情發生了，一切的反省都只是亡羊補牢罷了。
