摘要：颱風夜在新竹縣五峰鄉，降下963毫米的雨量，是全台最高。強勁風雨，通往五峰山區的主要道路，因為河流暴漲，地基掏空，許多路段塌陷，甚至有鐵皮屋整個掉進滾滾泥流中，所幸住戶早先一步撤離，才沒有釀成人員傷亡。而在市區，舊中正大橋的橋面，斷裂80公尺的大洞，還好去年就封橋，沒有人車通行。 要挺進到全臺灣雨量最多的五峰山區，沿路要注意的，除了從天而降的落石、，連根拔起、橫躺在地的大樹之外，還得小心，眼前不斷消失的道路，下頭的上坪溪暴漲，地基不斷被掏空，這間鐵皮屋，見證了滾滾泥沙的威力
